SeniorIrwin joined MNUFC after five seasons with the Colorado Rapids. The MLS veteran has over 200 league appearances—including eight playoff appearances and 37 shutouts—in his ten-year career in Major League Soccer. In 2023, he made four appearances in the regular season and started all three of the club’s matches in the Open Cup tournament, where he made key saves in the penalty shootout to send Minnesota United into the Round of 16 against the Houston Dynamo.
Irwin began his professional career in USL League Two with the Carolina Dynamo, where he played two seasons while attending Elon University. He played one season in the Canadian Soccer League with Capital City before joining the Colorado Rapids in 2013. Irwin won the starting job straight away, making 32 regular-season appearances to help Colorado to a surprise playoff berth in 2013. He made 87 regular-season starts in three years in Colorado before he was traded to Toronto ahead of the 2016 season. He was the first-choice keeper in his first season at BMO Field, starting 19 regular-season matches and all six playoff contests, including TFC’s heartbreaking loss to Seattle in MLS Cup. He was part of the 2017 Toronto squad that completed the treble of the MLS Cup, Supporter’s Shield, and Canadian Championship. Irwin returned to Colorado ahead of the 2019 season.
Clint is joined in Minnesota by his wife Kasey and their two children, Rhys and Graham, as well as their golden retriever Zeb.
