Schwan’s and Minnesota United are committed to developing and honoring strong community leaders. Together they have created the Schwan’s Youth Soccer Club of the Match program, where youth soccer teams throughout Minnesota can apply for an opportunity to be honored at a future MNUFC home match.

“Youth soccer is about competing on the pitch and growing your skills, but it’s about more than that,” said MNUFC Sporting Director Manny Lagos. “It’s about growing as a person and learning to be part of a team that contributes off the pitch as well. This partnership with Schwan’s is a tremendous opportunity for young people to give back to the communities that support them.”

Applications will be reviewed and evaluated based on a team’s positive contributions to the community including team volunteering, donation drives and overall community service.

“We are excited to join Minnesota United to recognize young people who work to make our community better,” said Dimitrios Smyrnios, Chief Executive Officer for Schwan’s Company. “The opportunity for youth across our state to grow their skills on and off the pitch through soccer and teamwork is something we look forward to supporting as part of our company’s new relationship with MNUFC.”

The program will start accepting applications Tuesday, July 18 and will run through the 2018 season. Applications will be evaluated based on a team’s positive contributions to the community. Six teams will be chosen over the course of the partnership, and each will receive in-stadium recognition, access to view warm-ups from the pitch and a pre-match pizza party courtesy of Schwan’s.
