MNUFC2 announced today that the club has signed midfielder Zaydan Bello to a one-year MLS NEXT Pro contract, with a club option, starting in January 2023.
“Zaydan is a player that’s really motivated and looking for the next challenge. He has a sense of versatility to him in the positions he’s played over the past few years, having good experience through the academy and the first team at Melbourne Victory,” said MNUFC2 Head Coach Cameron Knowles. “I think his desire and his attitude, and ultimately his quality as a player, is going to be a really big help for us in the second team.”
Bello most recently played for Melbourne Victory of the Australian topflight, A-League Men. A product of Victory’s Academy since the age of 15, Bello made four appearances for the first team during the 2021 season. Bello was notably the team captain for Victory’s Youth Club that competes in the National Premier Leagues (NPL), the second tier of soccer in Australia. Internationally, the 20-year-old has represented Australia on the U23, U20 and U17 levels, with his most recent call-up happening for 2022 Asian Football Confederation U23 Asian Cup Qualifications matches, making the Olyroos matchday squad twice during those qualifiers – both against Indonesia.
