The Loons are in the playoffs, and Dayne St. Clair is in the Team of the Matchday. Not a bad way to wake up on a Thursday, huh? Though he didn’t have the busiest game of his career, DSC proved once again last night just how important he is to this MNUFC squad, stepping up when called upon and providing leadership from the back.
Real Salt Lake was more active early on in last night’s match, forcing three saves out of St. Clair in the first half alone. A quiet second half saw the Black and Blue keeper extend his tally to just four saves on the night, including a point-blank reaction save to keep Chicho Arango from scoring the game-winner. This was very much a case of waiting for your moments and being prepared when they come, and MNUFC’s Canadian international was more than ready when his time to shine came, keeping the clean sheet and earning his side a valuable point.
With 68 total saves across 24 games played in the 2024 MLS season, DSC has been a solid presence all year long for this Loons side. With the playoffs swiftly approaching and the team’s focus shifting to keeping up their good form, it’s more important than ever for MNUFC to have the safe hands of Dayne St. Clair as their last line of defense. Well done, Dayne; let’s keep the good times rolling!
