It wouldn’t be a Loons matchday without someone scoring a brace, would it? And, naturally, that means they deserve a place in the Team of the Matchday; I don’t make the rules, I just follow them. This week, in-form striker Tani Oluwaseyi is joined by defender Jefferson Díaz in the TOTM 6 lineup, following their electric performances on a cold, rainy night at Allianz Field.

Oluwaseyi earned his second recognition of the 2025 season with yet another brace, bringing his scoring streak up to five goals in his last three games for club and country. The Canadian international has demonstrated a wide range of finishing ability recently, finding the back of the net with both feet as well as his head on his way to four league goals in 2025. His relentless work rate and willingness to have a hit make him a nuisance for opposing defenses, a lesson RSL learned the hard way on Matchday 6.

Díaz makes his first TOTM appearance of the year this week, in what was just his third start of the season. The striker-turned-defender showed his attacking acumen Saturday night, getting forward into dangerous areas and leading the charge for the Loons’ first goal of the night. His excellent instincts and inch-perfect cross to the head of Oluwaseyi would have been impressive on any night, but finding the grit necessary to do that in such unforgiving elements was certainly worthy of special recognition.

Following their 2-0 win over RSL, your Loons are now up to fourth place in the Western Conference on 11 points. They’ve not lost since their opening day defeat in LA, now riding a five-game unbeaten run into their impending cross-conference matchup with NYCFC this weekend. Congratulations, Tani and Jeff; let’s keep this good form going!
