Wessel Speel
Biography
Wessel Speel signed a one-year MLS NEXT Pro contract with MNUFC2 on February 8, 2025, with a club option for 2026. The Dutch goalkeeper brings experience from both professional and collegiate levels, having previously played for Jong FC Utrecht in the Eerste Divisie and later competing in NCAA soccer with Hofstra University and Duke University.
During his time at Hofstra in 2022, Speel earned Third-Team All-Colonial Athletic Association honors and was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region Third Team. He continued his collegiate career at Duke in 2024, earning ACC Goalkeeper of the Year honors following a season with seven clean sheets and 11 wins in net.
