Francesco Montali

Biography

Francesco Montali signed an MLS NEXT Pro contract with MNUFC2 in July through the end of 2024. He joins MNUFC2 after a strong playing career at the collegiate level for Boston University, where he made 47 appearances (47 starts) in his three years from 2021-2023, while also recently playing for Vermont Green FC, a semi-professional USL League Two team that competes in the summer months.

The goalkeeper notably made his MNUFC2 debut start in net on July 3 at North Texas SC. Following that start, he was signed to two Short-Term Agreements with the first team, where he was then available for selection during the games at LA Galaxy on July 7 and Houston Dynamo FC on July 13.

As a Terrier, Montali earned 19 shutouts in those 47 matches, and earned significant honors, including 2023 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America First Team, two-time Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year (2022, 2023) and a 2023 United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region First Team accolade.
