MNUFC today announced the trial dates for its Academy Teams and the player placement events for the Pre-Academy program. Team trials will be for U13 (2007), U14 (2006), U15 (2005) and U16/17 (2004 & 2003) along with player placement events for the U10 (2010), U11 (2009) and U12 (2008) Pre-Academy program. All trials and player placement events will be held at the Minnesota United FC Training Grounds, located at the National Sports Center in Blaine.
Entering the third year of US Soccer Development Academy competition, MNUFC expands to include a U16/17 age group beginning with the 2019-20 Academy season. MNUFC will be the only Boys Development Academy in the Twin Cities beginning with the 2019-20 Season.
Functioning as a unique, top-tier program within the state, and also within the designated MLS youth development home territory, the Minnesota United FC Academy is a destination for high-potential talent that is unmatched in the region and state.
In addition to Development Academy teams, placement events will be conducted for players in the U10 (2010), U11 (2009) and U12 (2008) age groups to determine player placement within the MNUFC Pre-Academy program. The Pre-Academy is a supplemental player development program, as players remain registered with their home clubs for training and games. No players in these ages are eliminated but are evaluated for appropriate placement within the Pre-Academy program.
“As we begin the third year of participation in US Soccer Development Academy competition and second year of MLS Generation adidas events, we look forward to the addition of the U17 team as well as the expansion of programming for Pre-Academy age groups,” said Tim Carter, MNUFC Academy Director. “We are constantly looking to improve the programs we provide in order to better educate players. The process of developing players to reach our first team is our mission, while helping clubs to improve the quality of play within the ages of Zone 1 is a major technical objective of our Academy.”
Players interested in participating in trials or the player placement events must pre-register here. Following the registration submission, you will be sent confirmation approximately two weeks from the date of your age group trial or event, along with additional information about check-in. There is no cost to participate and the dates and times for all age groups are indicated below. Please note that age groups U11, U12, U13 and U14 are a cumulative two-day evaluation process.
