With less than two months to go until the team’s home opener against the Chicago Fire on Saturday, March 17, Minnesota United has announced its Countdown to Kickoff, an almost month-long schedule of events across Minnesota leading up to the team’s first match of the 2018 season at TCF Bank Stadium.
Countdown to Kickoff begins with an event revealing the club’s new 2018 primary kit at Mall of America on Sunday, February 11. The next four-plus weeks will feature events like watch parties and include promotions and events statewide with chances for fans to win a road trip to see Minnesota United’s season opener in San Jose against the Earthquakes, tickets to the home opener, kits, scarves and more. Countdown to Kickoff follows closely on the launch of the team’s 2018 campaign, #ScarvesUpMN, which the club announced with a coordinated flash mob event across the Twin Cities and in Duluth, Rochester, Mankato and St. Cloud on Thursday, January 11.
“The fans who came out and supported Minnesota United in our inaugural season were incredible,” said MNUFC CEO Chris Wright. “What we want for our second season is simple: more. We want more people to become a part of the amazing community we’re building through soccer. The events we have planned for Countdown to Kickoff are meant to get people involved and let them know who we are and what we’re all about.”
The Loons’ new primary kit will make its debut at the Kit Reveal at MOA at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 11. Target returns as the kit sponsor this season with its bullseye logo once again featured prominently on the kit. This will be fans’ first chance to see the kits in person and also purchase them. The Kit Reveal and Countdown to Kickoff are part of the team’s #ScarvesUpMN campaign as MNUFC prepares for its second MLS season and last season at TCF Bank Stadium before moving into the soccer-specific Allianz Field in the Midway Neighborhood of St. Paul.
