The MNUFC Development Academy is bringing on Joe Burger as the Youth Programs Technical Coordinator. This puts Burger in charge of the revenue-producing arm of the Academy, including all camps and clinics. In this capacity, he’ll be creating curriculums and coming up with programming for the various youth programs that the Development Academy runs in and around the Twin Cities. He will also serve as a member of the Academy coaching staff.
Burger comes to the Development Academy after 23 years working at the college level, including time at three schools in the Missouri Valley conference and working as a coach at various levels from Junior College Division II up to Division I assistant. He holds an “A” License from U.S. Soccer and was most recently the assistant men’s soccer coach at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.
“We're excited that Joe Burger has joined our club and will oversee our youth programming initiatives,” said Academy Director Tim Carter. “Joe's experience in working with youth soccer and understanding their needs will help us improve and expand programs to better serve the youth within our state."
“I’ve created two college programs from scratch,” said Burger. “That’s how I view this opportunity: I get to relaunch the camp program. As a builder, I like the challenge of growing a different program than I’ve done before and being in the grass roots of a brand-new MLS organization. Hopefully I can have an impact where I am giving the youth of the Twin Cities and our affiliate memberships a positive experience that will lead to becoming lifelong fans of the Loons. You don’t really remember what people tell you, but you always remember how they made you feel. It’s our job to make them feel like they’re part of the family, to have a positive experience with the game and our organization.”
Minnesota United’s final home match of the regular season is Fan Appreciation Night on Saturday, October 7. The Loons will face Sporting Kansas City at TCF Bank Stadium with kickoff at 7:00 p.m. Come cheer on MNUFC and stick around for post-match fireworks.
