HomegrownPadelford joined Minnesota United as the club’s first Homegrown Player out of MNUFC’s new Academy under the Youth Development Program. Originally a left-footed attacker, Padelford switched to the defense when he joined the MNUFC program.
The young fullback made eight appearances with the first team in 2023, earning his first start against Detroit City FC in the U.S. Open Cup and making his MLS debut against Toronto FC on June 3, 2023. Weeks later, against Austin FC, Padelford would score his first professional goal that prevented a shutout loss at home on July 8, 2023. The Woodbury native also played significant time with MNUFC2, appearing in 18 matches (all starts), scoring one goal, and providing eight assists.
In 2022, the 20-year-old was loaned out to MNUFC2, where he started 22 matches and provided one assist in 1,946 MLS NEXT Pro regular-season minutes. The defender notably made his first team debut during U.S. Open Cup action, playing seven minutes as a substitute against Union Omaha on May 25, 2022. Padelford also featured as a second-half substitute against Everton FC in a friendly match on July 7, 2022, recording seven minutes on the pitch.
