After his contributions led to a much-needed 2-0 win over San Jose Earthquakes this past Saturday, ending the Loons’ 7-game winless streak in the process, wingback Joseph Rosales has earned his way into the Team of the Matchday lineup for MLS Matchday no. 28.
Rosales, who’s proven himself to be a pivotal player for the Loons’ and Coach Eric Ramsay’s more uptempo, aggressive approach, showed off some of the playmaking abilities that have made him so valuable throughout the season. Rosales’ fast feet, shifty movements, and accurate distribution were all facets of his game that were on display for the evening.
His biggest play of the night came in the 75th minute, when, after regaining possession from his cleared corner attempt, Rosales’ second-chance cross foundBongokhule Hlongwane ready and waiting at the back post for a clean header that San Jose keeper William Yarbrough could only watch helplessly.
The goal would help sew up the win for the Loons and send them on to Leagues Cup action with a spark of momentum, and another reminder of why this has been a breakout season for Rosales.
Congrats to you, Joseph…keep on ballin’!
