Minnesota United today announced that Soul Asylum will headline a gameday full of activities for fans to experience on Saturday, May 10 when the Loons take on Inter Miami CF at Allianz Field in Saint Paul, Minnesota at 3:30 p.m. CT, presented by Allianz Life.
Fans and the general public will be able to experience numerous free activities on the Great Lawn during the Lawn Layover, presented by Sun Country Airlines, which is scheduled to open at 12:00 p.m. CT. Notably, the Lawn Layover will feature a free watch party on a giant screen for anyone to view throughout the entirety of the game.
Before the fixture between Minnesota and Miami starts, Soul Asylum will headline a list of music performances on the Sun Country Lawn Layover stage. Soul Asylum is a Grammy award-winning and multi-platinum selling rock band from Minneapolis known for their 1992 breakthrough album, “Grave Dancers Union”, that featured the international hits “Runaway Train”, “Black Gold” and “Somebody to Shove.”
Porch Light, an indie-rock group based out of Minneapolis, will additionally perform on the Lawn Layover stage. Leaning into a raw and authentic live process, Porch Light creates a sense of relatability and intimacy for anyone experiencing this group, with their music inspired by blending the sounds of ’90s Radiohead with Hayley Williams’ Paramore, Slow Pulp, Big Thief and more.
“Minnesota has a great history of soccer and a great history of musical talent and it’s incredible we are bringing both together for a great weekend to celebrate our soccer and music communities,” said MNUFC Chief Development Officer Manny Lagos. “We have a lot of pride here in Minnesota and I’m confident Minnesotans will come ready to express their support for the club and enjoy a great day of soccer and music.”
In addition to the Lawn Layover performances and watch party, fans and the general public are able to experience fun and interactive activations from Target and a number of other club sponsors. Also within the Lawn Layover will be numerous food and beverage choices to indulge in, a merchandise truck to purchase Loons gear and the opportunity to take a photo next to a giant, inflatable “PK” loon mascot.
Notably, the first 15,000 fans in the gate on May 10 will receive a custom pennant, courtesy of Allianz Life.
International hip-hop violinist, recording artist, and composer Josh Vietti is also set to perform during half time on May 10. Vietti makes his Allianz Field return after performing both a pre-game and half time show during last year’s Decision Day Fan Appreciation match against St. Louis CITY SC. Known for his genre-blending sound and electrifying stage presence, Vietti has showcased his talent in front of some of the biggest names in music like 50 Cent, Snoop Dog and Dr. Dre, and has over 400 million streams across platforms such as Spotify and Pandora.
