Ripples: June Community Impact

Minnesota United is continually striving to find ways to give back to the Twin Cities community, and June saw many great events with that goal in mind. In order to keep you updated, we’ve compiled a list of some highlights from the past month.

Special Olympics MN, BCBS – Unified Home Game

On June 1, the MNUFC Unified team played their first game of the season against Sporting Kansas City Unified. The match saw a few lead changes, with MNUFC ultimately coming out on top in a 3-2 thriller!

LEAP High School – Stadium Tour

On June 7, Allianz Field hosted students from LEAP High School, an alternative learning school that specializes in curriculums for English-learning immigrant and refugee students. Our special guests received a tour of Allianz Field as it was being set up for an MNUFC home game.

Saint Paul Parks and Rec – PK’s Place Playground Opening

On June 20, Dr. Bill McGuire and community/political leaders officially opened PK’s Place – a one-of-a-kind playground that includes ADA compliant swings and rides. Situated next to Allianz Field, this park is a place where kids of all abilities and backgrounds can play and grow together.

BCBS, Kickers FC – Community Clinic

On June 23, the club held its third community clinic of the year, in partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield MN and Kickers FC. About 200 kids were joined by players Robin Lod, Michael Boxall, and Caden Clark, as they led several practice drills.

Ruff Start – Puppies at Practice

On June 25, in partnership with Coco's Heart Dog Rescue, MNUFC players had the opportunity to cuddle and interact with adoptable puppies after their training session – adorable moments ensued.
