The announcement of the MLS Team of the Matchday for Week 22 has been released, and a couple of the boys in Black and Blue have been honored for their performances in taking down Portland Timbers for a second time this season. In just his second start of the season, midfielder Emanuel Reynoso certainly continues to show just how dangerous he is regardless of where he is on the field. Like, when he hit an absolutely gorgeous (almost) Olimpico off a corner kick in the last moments of the first half of Saturday’s contest. A goal of the year nominee, perhaps? He struck once again in the 77th minute of the second half after finding himself on the receiving end of a perfectly placed cross from Bongi that walked into the net, helping Rey walk away with 2 beautiful goals and a host of other creative ways to put the ball into the right places for the Loons.

Speaking of our boy Bongi, he had a gem of a performance himself against the Timbers. As mentioned, his on-point crossing pass to el Rey in the 77th minute of play was pure quality. He had made his presence felt even earlier in the game when he made another accurate crossing ball that was meant for a streaking Ménder García , but ultimately ricocheted off Portland midfielder Diego Chara for what would officially be ruled an own goal. Then, it would be Bongi on mostly his own accord in the 74th minute of the second half, when a long pass from Zarek Valentin would have Bongi running full speed down the side of the field. He would head forward and let his speed do the rest, putting a nutmeg laser through the keeper's legs to find the net.

Both players showed just how much quality we may see from the Loons attack in the second half of the season. And, every Loons fans has to be feeling some optimism about the kind of plays that happen when these two stars are on the field together.

Congratulations, fellas! Your week 22 recognition is well-deserved.
