Well, as far as debuts go, an impressive 2-0 win over a very talented LAFC squad to start your tenure as the head man for Minnesota United isn’t too shabby.
Turns out, Loons fans weren’t the only ones that felt like Ramsay was deserving of praise after registering not only his first win as coach, but the squad's first home win of 2024. Which is why Ramsay finds his name on the MLS Team of the Matchday for week 5, but he wouldn’t be the only MNUFC performance to earn a spot on the roster this week.
The league would also extend a reserve spot on this week’s roster to midfielder Hassani Dotson, after playing this match like he does most others: End-to-end, and “with his hair on fire.” The Washington-native pestered LAFC’s attack early and often, while also providing a big spark to the attacking third as well, constantly finding ways to press on the LAFC’s defenders and create opportunities on goal for the Loons.
For both the coach and the player, these honors serve as a testament to the way this Minnesota United team has come out of the gates in 2024. And, if Dotson can continue to give the kind of performances that can give the opposition fits, and Ramsay can continue to successfully lead MNUFC’s efforts to play faster and more aggressive, then this may not be the last time we see either individual earn this kind of honor again this season.
Congrats, Hassani and Coach Ramsay!
