MNUFC2 announced today that the club has acquired midfielder Cedrik Gbo via a one-year loan, through January 2024, with an option to buy.
“We think Cedrik will be a good piece to add to the group. He’s more of a true holding central midfielder type player and one that we’ve been wanting to bring in for a while now,” said MNUFC2 Head Coach Cameron Knowles. “We’re excited to finally get him here and see him in training. We add another young, international player in Cedrik that complements the group we already have.”
Gbo, a midfielder from Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, joins MNUFC2 from Esperance Sportive de Tunis, the reigning champions of the first division in Tunisia. A product of the Esperance Academy, the 20-year-old has provided two assists in his 13 appearances, totaling 817 minutes of play, and is a 2020-2021 Tunisian Champion and Tunisian Cup winner. The Ivorian midfielder additionally earned 67 minutes in a match against Teungueth FC during the CAF-Champions League tournament. In January 2022, Gbo was loaned from Esperance Sportive to Oud-Heverlee Leuven of the Jupiler Pro League in Belgium. His loan ended after five months and returned back to Esperance.
