MNUFC2 announced today that forward Enrique Nieves earned his first international call-up, representing Puerto Rico during the FIFA International Window in September.

Nieves has joined Puerto Rico as they are set to compete in Group E of the Concacaf Nations League. On September 6, Puerto Rico will face Haiti and then Aruba on Monday, September 9. Both matches will take place at The Mayagüez Athletics Stadium in Puerto Rico. Nieves notably is playing alongside Minnesota United first team defender Zarek Valentin on El Huracán Azul’s senior squad.

Since signing with MNUFC2 in July, Nieves has made eight game appearances (six starts) while providing depth in the front line. Before officially joining the squad this summer, Nieves trained with MNUFC2 and Minnesota United’s first team throughout the first half of 2024.
