The MNUFC Academy Cup is a Labor Day tournament for U9–U12 boys’ and girls’ teams. With competition guidelines sanctioned by MYSA with MLS youth technical recommendations, the MNUFC Academy Cup will provide an opportunity for players to be evaluated by MNUFC Academy coaches for future opportunities with the team’s Development Academy, including the chance for boys to participate in the U12 Generation Adidas Cup, an MLS competition.
“The MNUFC Academy Cup provides a tremendous opportunity for boys and girls to interact, play and experience the game in an environment that fosters individual growth and development,” said Academy Director Tim Carter.
Special events during the tournament will include an appearance by a member of Minnesota United’s first team for autographs, pictures and a Q&A session. Team coaches will be invited to a pre-match presentation featuring a special guest and also a social event. The tournament headquarters will include an interactive player area for participants to rest and recover between matches, and all players will receive a complimentary match ticket to Minnesota United’s matchup against the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, September 9 at TCF Bank Stadium.
