Minnesota United announced today that the club has signed Swedish defender Victor Eriksson to a three-year deal, with a club option for 2027. Eriksson will join the Loons pending receipt of his P1 Visa and ITC.
Eriksson joins MNUFC having been a mainstay for IFK Värnamo of Sweden’s topflight division, Allsvenskan, across the past two seasons. From 2022-2023, the center back made 59 league game appearances for Värnamo, amassing over 5,260 minutes played on the pitch for his hometown club. Eriksson has been with Värnamo since 2017, playing for the squad as it climbed the Swedish football association ladder beginning in the Ettan (third division), where they won the league in 2020 to earn promotion to the Superettan (second division). Värnamo then won the 2021 Superettan to be promoted to the Allsvenskan for the 2022 season and beyond. Since 2017 with Värnamo, the defender has made 110 game appearances, in league play, across the three divisions, with an additional five appearances in Swedish Cup action.
Internationally, Eriksson has earned one call up to the Sweden National Team, making his debut appearance with the senior squad for an international friendly on January 9, 2024: The center back started and played 90 minutes during the 2-0 victory over Finland.
