For his role in keeping two clean sheets at home last week, Romain Metanire has been named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 9. This is Metanire’s second time earning the honor this year, last making the Team of the Week in Week 2.
The Madagascar international was a major factor on both sides of the ball in the 0-0 draw with LA Galaxy and the 1-0 win over D.C. United at Allianz Field. He torched the visitors with blistering runs and precision passes down the flanks to create chances, while also frustrating attackers with tenacious defending. Over the course of the two games he completed 76 passes, made three key tackles and intercepted three passes. He also provided the assist to the game-winning goal against D.C. He now leads the Loons with four assists on the year.
