MNUFC2 is gearing up to face Houston Dynamo 2 on Sunday evening. It’ll be good for the Loons to play in front of a home crowd, especially after hitting a bit of a speed bump in the standings. Currently in ninth place in the Western Conference, MNUFC2 sits five spots below the Dynamo. The margin between fourth and ninth is a mere three points, however, so a win could see the Twos jump up a few spots in the table.

Houston Dynamo FC 2 is on a hot streak right now, having stayed unbeaten in their last four matches, three of which were clean sheets. MNUFC2 was also recently riding a four-game undefeated stretch before their two most recent showings had the Black and Blue hit a bit of a slump. However, with a larger-than-usual crowd promising to pour into National Sports Center Stadium after a Season Ticket Member event on Sunday, it’s the perfect time for the Loons to right the ship.

Each time MNUFC2 faced the Dynamo last year, it was a closely contested battle, with all three contests being decided by a one-goal margin or less. More specifically, Houston beat Minnesota 1-0 in two of their matchups and tied 1-1 in the other. No matter what happens, the match this weekend is surely going to be a battle, but it definitely would be nice to find the Loons on the winning side this time around.

MNUFC2 has conceded four goals in both of their recent losses, so shoring up the defense is a major priority for the Twos. In order to keep Houston out of the net, MNUFC2 will need to keep a close eye on Diego Gonzales, a midfielder who has scored in four consecutive matches for Dynamo Dos. The Twos have many offensive weapons of their own, however, one of which is Kameron Lacey, who scored a brace last Saturday.

Sunday is shaping up to be an exciting match that offers a lot of opportunity for the Twos. Not only could they rapidly climb the standings, but they could snag some revenge and emerge victorious in front of a large home crowd. If last year is any indicator, it will be a battle until the end, and attending fans are definitely in for a treat.
