Minnesota United returns to action after a long break for the World Cup to take on Houston Dynamo in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16. The two sides advanced from the fourth round after beating lower-division clubs, with MNUFC dispatching FC Cincinnati of the USL and Houston dominating amateur side NTX Rayados. The Dynamo last saw action on June 9 with a confident home win over the Colorado Rapids in MLS play. They have done well at home this year, going 5-2-0 at BBVA Compass Stadium. The long break will be helpful for the Loons, who have been nursing some injuries. They have already beaten Houston on one occasion this year, earning a 2-1 result at home, and will look to claim another victory to advance in the tournament.
