The Loons are back in St. Paul after a string of successful regular-season road games this Saturday to take on Real Salt Lake at Allianz Field. Initially, Salt Lake struggled to gain traction this season, with only one win in their first five games. However, Utah's team has continued to push, now undefeated in their last two regular-season matches and fresh off of a Wednesday U.S. Open Cup win over Colorado. Historically, MNUFC has had a slight edge over the team from the Beehive State, with a record of five wins, five draws, and three losses for the Loons. Scoring has never been in short supply between these two teams, with eight goals scored between them in their last two meetings alone. Only three points separate the 6th-place Loons from the 11th-place RSL, leaving plenty to play for in what will likely be a tightly contested match this weekend. In-Game Honors
The pregame ceremony will include a national anthem performance by Brittany Rudoi, and recognition of Robert Hanson as our SeatGeek Fan of the Game and Sue Kowalski, a Physical Therapist Assistant at United Hospital in Saint Paul, as the Allina Health Honorary Scoreboard Keeper for the game. At halftime, the club will honor Mrs. Betsy Julien, a teacher at Glen Lake Elementary School in Hopkins MN who has been raising funds for the last six months with her students to help create an accessible and inclusive playground for all students, as the L'Etoile du Nord. Once again this year, the red seat recognizing our Xcel Energy Eye of the Loon will be left empty in honor of Memorial Day and all service members that are prisoners of war, are missing in action, or were killed in action.
