In their midweek match agains tthe LA Galaxy, the Loons had a dominant first half with a Bongi banger in the 30th minute to give them the lead going into the second half. LA wasn't going to go down without a fight though, and they snuck two past Minnesota's otherwise lockdown defense in the 52nd and 59th minue. The Loons stayed determined and Kervin Arriaga came flying in with a header goal off of a Joseph Rosales corner in the 80th minute to secure a point and stretch Minnesota United's undefeated streak to four. The Loons have a quick turnaround and will need to bounce back quickly to make sure they are ready before their showdown on Saturday against the Portland Timbers. So far this season, Portland has experienced an uncharacteristically slow start with a record 3-4-6 and 13 points to their name in 13 games. Prior to Portland's Wednesday night win against San Jose, the Pacific North West side had not secured a win in nine matches. With their recent win, the Timbers are definitely looking to gain some momentum against the Loons. The Boys in Black and Blue will need to take the lessons they learned in the second half against LA and lock down defensively to ensure they don't allow Portland to walk out of Allianz Field with a win. The pregame ceremony will include a national anthem performance by Paul and Brittany Rudoi. Jeff Yaeger will also be recognized as our SeatGeek Fan of the Game and Katie Johnson will be honored as the Allina Health Honorary Scoreboard Keeper for the game. Additionally, Nelson will be honored as the Nutrisource Service Dog of the Game. At halftime, the club will honor Amanda Xiong as the L'Étoile du Nord and Chris Gregson as the Xcel Energy Eye of the Loon.
