The Boys in Black and Blue are back for their second home game of the week this Saturday to face the Portland Timbers. Most recently, MNUFC prevailed through many rain delays to get a 2-1 win over 2. Bundesliga side FC Kaiserslautern in a midweek international friendly. When it comes to league play, Minnesota and Portland have had similar luck this season, securing records of 5-7-6 and 5-8-7, respectively. Only one point separates these teams in the standings, so there's much more than pride up for grabs this weekend. Due to a disciplinary suspension, Portland's star player, Evander da Silva Ferreira, will be missing from Saturday's Timbers roster. With Evander missing, Portland will need to fill his goalscoring gap while the Loons are fresh off a win that saw Ménder GarcÃa and Sang Bin Jeong find the back of the net. The last time these two met, it was a tight battle until the last touch of the game, when Bongokuhle Hlongwane snuck one past Portland in the 95th minute. If the Loons want to secure a regular-season sweep of the Timbers this Saturday, they will need to build off of their midweek momentum and shut down Portland early in St. Paul.

In-Game Honors
The pregame ceremony will include a national anthem performance by Stephanie Varone, recognition of Itasca Society Member Chance Theriault as our SeatGeek Fan of the Game and Kelly Rondeau, a learning designer with Allina’s learning and development team, as the Allina Health Honorary Scoreboard Keeper for the game. Sienna Herman will also be featured as our Gillette Game Ball Delivery Kid. At halftime, the club will honor veteran Song Khoua Xiong, CIA Special Guerrilla Units, as the L'Etoile du Nord. Additionally, George Medina Jr., a Purple Heart recipient who served 8 years in the United States Marine Corps as a squad leader and a rifleman and primary marksmanship instructor, will be honored as the Xcel Energy Eye of the Loon.
