The Loons return to Allianz Field this week for a Wednesday night friendly against 2. Bundesliga side FC Kaiserslautern. As of late, the Loons have seen improvement in their overall play but have struggled to secure three points, with three ties and three losses rounding out their recent run of form. With key players returning to the roster, this friendly will provide a positive opportunity to shake off some rust and for returning players to reconnect with their teammates against a new opponent. For FC Kaiserslautern, this game is a preseason tune-up to provide much of the same reintroduction between teammates and to prepare for their upcoming 2023–2024 season. Kaiserslautern is coming into Wednesday's game fresh off of a friendly win against USL Championship side Louisville City FC. The game started in Louisville's favor, with Enoch Mushagalusa scoring in the 13th minute for the home team, but ended in a 2-1 scoreline in favor of the Germans after former USMNT forward Terrence Boyd quickly responded with two goals in the first half. With the Loons flying in from a tough road draw and Kaiserslautern fresh off a midweek win in Louisville, MNUFC will need to reset quickly to prepare for their friendly against FCK.
