Following Minnesota United’s energetic draw at home on Saturday night, Kervin Arriaga earned MLS Week 17 Team of the Matchday honors. In the late minutes of the game, MNUFC was fiercely fighting to find an answer to Toronto’s 1-0 lead, and Arriaga delivered with a beautiful strike in the 89th minute.
Manager Adrian Heath was extremely pleased with the goal from the Honduran international, and hopes it will lead to even more goals from him.
“It’s good for everybody. He’ll be the first one to admit that was for everybody. He’s going to have to wait and get his opportunity and he’ll come around again. He should score more goals. He has an unbelievable strike on both feet, he’s six foot four, and at times he doesn’t get in the box enough and that’s something we’ve been talking to him about.”
Arriaga’s late-game heroics helped the Loons avoid a loss at home and maintain their position in the Western Conference standings, as the club works to reintegrate Emanuel Reynoso into the starting XI. A Team of the Matchday nod is well-deserved, indeed.
