MNUFC2 put up a 4-0 shutout against Portland Timbers2 on Sunday – their largest margin of victory this season. Leading the charge was forward Kameron Lacey, the 22-year-old from Miami who completed a hat trick and earned himself the honor of being named MLS NEXT Pro Player of Matchday 15.
Lacey first got on the board in the dwindling extra minutes of the first half after drawing a foul in the 18 and burying the resulting penalty kick.
The Miami forward doubled up the MNUFC2 lead in the 53rd minute when he controlled a cross off the bounce and took a one-touch shot from the center of the box.
Lacey netted the Twos’ fourth and final goal of the match in the 74th minute when he hammered a headed pass from Cameron Dunbar past the Timbers2 keeper.
Considering the shift that Kameron put in on Sunday – in stifling temperatures to boot – this Player of Matchday 15 nod is more than well-deserved.
