The MLS Week 13 Team of the Matchday is here, and MNUFC’s very own Bongokuhle Hlongwane is in it. Following his lively performance against Houston last night, Bongi was voted Man of the Match as well, capping off a great performance with well-earned recognition.
Manager Adrian Heath was delighted with the winger after the match, expressing just how good he’s been this year.
“He’s at five goals this season with two in the [U.S.] Open Cup,” he said. “We’ve played, with the Open Cup game, what, 13 games this season now. To get five goals, he might get me the 25 goals that he said he was going to get me when he left last year.”
His goal in the 14th minute proved to be the game-winner, but it wasn’t his only contribution on the night. The South African brought his usual workrate to the match, leaving it all on the field yet again.
Considering Bongi’s recent run of form, it seems likely that a few more TOTM honors are in his future.
