Minnesota United FC joined Girls on the Run Twin Cities for its Limitless Potential Luncheon on Tuesday in Minneapolis to hear from Dr. Jen Welter, the first woman to coach in the NFL, and others about how to empower young girls to break barriers and pursue their dreams.

Community Relations Coordinator Alyssa Anderson, Director of Partnership Marketing Brooke Dotson, Allianz Field Project Manager Samantha Chapman and Executive Assistant Kristi Benson were among those representing MNUFC at the luncheon and said the experience was both motivating and impactful.

"Girls on the Run supports inclusivity at its most basic level: including elementary and middle school girls in sports to help foster confidence, health, and the vision for them to chase their dreams,” said Anderson. “Attending the Limitless Potential Luncheon, an event that brings women and men from all over the Twin Cities to support the education, physical fitness, and health of young girls, was inspiring. We're grateful to have Girls on the Run Twin Cities working and making a tangible impact with the youth in our communities."

Welter, the event’s keynote speaker, spoke about her experiences growing up wanting to play professional sports and the many hurdles her relentless drive helped her overcome to realize that pioneering dream before eventually coaching with the Arizona Cardinals.

Girls on the Run is a national organization that strives to inspire young girls in third through eighth grades to be joyful, healthy and confident and to develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness.The ten-week program culminates with a service project and a celebratory 5K event.

The Alerus Mortgage Girls on the Run Twin Cities Spring 5K will take place Sunday, June 3, 2018 at the Mall of America.
