Minnesota United extended its unbeaten run at Allianz Field with a 1-0 win over Columbus Crew SC over the weekend. For their contributions to claiming three more points for the Loons, Ethan Finlay and Romain Metanire have been named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 12.
Finlay makes his first appearance in the Team of the Week in 2019, and his first since Week 2 of the 2018 season when he scored twice against Orlando City SC. The Duluth-born midfielder scored the lone goal against his former team, tapping home the ball after receiving a headed pass from former Creighton University teammate Brent Kallman. Along with his game-winner, Finlay won six take-ons and completed 12 passes in Crew SC’s half.
Metanire features in the Team of the Week for the third time this season, last appearing in Week 9. The Madagascar international was credited with an assist on Finlay’s goal, serving the ball to the far post to Kallman for the header. He now leads the Loons with five on the year. Metanire was a dual threat once again, making three interceptions, three clearances and blocking a shot defensively, and making 15 passes in the final third with a pair of successful crosses in the offensive half.
