Minnesota United and Brent Kallman have agreed a new deal to keep the defender with the Loons through 2020, the team announced today.
“I’m proud to have signed an extension with MNUFC,” said Kallman. “It is an exciting time for the club as we kick off our third MLS season in a beautiful new Allianz Field, and I look forward to doing everything I can to help ensure the product on the field is deserving of the incredible support I know we will continue to receive. COYL!”
Kallman, a Woodbury native, extends his contract after another standout year at centerback in which he started 22 of 24 games, including an MLS Team of the Week nomination for Week 21 following his contributions to resounding wins over New England Revolution (2-1 on July 18) and LAFC (5-1 on July 22). He has spent his entire professional career with the Loons since first joining the club in 2013 and became the first Minnesotan to join the team in MLS with his signing in January 2017. Kallman made 23 appearances — 23 starts — during the inaugural season, contributing two goals and captaining the side on a number of occasions.
