Matchday 30 had some pretty incredible performances league-wide, making for quite the lineup in the most recent edition of the Team of the Matchday. MNUFC’s very own Michael Boxall did enough to add his own name to the roster, earning an inclusion on the bench in this attack-heavy TOTM.Â
Boxall’s selection is well-deserved, with the New Zealand international leading his team to a stellar return from Leagues Cup action. In their last four games, the Loons have conceded just two goals with him at the heart of the defense. While the full credit goes to the entire back line and goalkeeper, Boxall’s steady presence, deceptive speed, and tactical excellence have gone a long way towards keeping the ball out of the net.Â
It’s always nice to see the hardest-working players get recognized, and Boxall is undoubtedly a workhorse, playing the second-most league minutes of any Loon this season. He currently leads the team in interceptions made with 42, and the way he’s playing, that number is sure to keep rising. Congratulations, Boxy! We look forward to seeing you on your next Team of the Matchday as well!
