MNUFC Hosts Benefit Livestream on the Pitch at Allianz Field

Charlie Parr

Minnesota United is hosting a live stream concert with Minnesota-native Charlie Parr this Sunday, June 7 at 6:00 p.m. CT, to benefit the Official George Floyd Memorial Fund and Project for Pride in Living. The concert is part of the first steps MNUFC will be taking in the wake of the murder of George Floyd to work with and support its community on the path to effecting real change and genuine healing.

MNUFC fans can tune in to all Minnesota United digital channels to stream the concert live. To donate to the Official George Floyd Memorial Fund, click here. To donate to PPL, click here

The Official George Floyd Memorial Fund has been established to cover funeral and burial expenses, mental and grief counseling, lodging and travel for all court proceedings, and to assist the family in the days to come as they continue to seek justice for George. A portion of these funds will also go to the Estate of George Floyd for the benefit and care of his children and their educational fund.

Project for Pride in Living builds the hope, assets and self-reliance of individuals and families who have lower incomes by providing transformative affordable housing and career readiness services. PPL strives to be an equitable and inclusive organization committed to elevating the voices of the communities we serve that are disproportionately affected by systemic inequities.

PPL works in many of the neighborhoods impacted by recent events, like University Ave. in Saint Paul, Broadway in North Minneapolis, and Lake Street in South Minneapolis. Donations to PPL will go to a Resilience Fund that will be distributed to these residents and neighborhoods. PPL believes strongly in community agency and are committed to investing in neighborhood voices and asset-building.

Parr is an incorruptible outsider who writes novelistic, multi-layered stories that shine a kaleidoscopic light on defiant, unseen characters thriving in the shadows all around us. Parr has released 14 studio albums and tours the globe performing at legendary venues like the Newport Folk Festival, The Kennedy Center, The Troubadour and Bowery Ballroom. But he hasn’t moved to LA or Nashville — he’s stayed in the cold grey north of Minnesota, because that’s his home.

With every day bringing new challenges to overcome, MNUFC is focused on supporting the diverse community in the Twin Cities. Please visit our Resource Center page for information about opportunities to help and ways to donate money and resources towards healing in these difficult times.
