After nearly overcoming a three-goal halftime deficit in Wednesday’s 3-2 loss to Timbers2, the Twos return to National Sports Center Stadium to battle Houston Dynamo 2 on Sunday at 6:00 pm. Both MNUFC2 (4-8-0) and Houston (2-7-4) will be hungry for a positive result, with each hoping to snap their respective losing streaks.

Additionally, the Twos will likely have to account for the absences of several regular starters, as they continue to see minutes with the Loons first-team while four key players are away on international duty for Cópa America. But, with young prospects at the Academy level looking to earn more opportunities at the NEXT Pro level, the Twos will have plenty of talent ready to make an impact on the pitch.

Twos’ top goal-scorer Patrick Weah could be with the Loons in Portland for their match Saturday evening, so attacking stalwarts like Loïc Mesanvi and Darius Randell will need to step up and exploit any weaknesses in the Houston defensive third. Both were critical to the the second half surge in Wednesday’s near-comeback against Timbers2, with Mesanvi notching the assist on Rory O’Driscoll’s score in the 56th minute of the second half. While the Twos’ attack didn’t struggle to create scoring chances earlier in the week, the boys hope that they’ll be able to put their best finishing foot forward and turn opportunities into scores on the board against Houston.
